It should be noted that there are both tropical and temperate pitcher plants. The temperate pitchers (and venus flutraps) will *need* a hibernation period in the winter since they have adapted to growing in the standard North American climate.

Also, carnivorous plants don't require *good* soil. They require very *poor* soil in that they can't tolerate the nutrients generally present. Carnivorous plants also need watered with either rain water, reverse osmosis water or distilled water. The minerals, chemicals and salts in most tap water will kill them.

Currently 80+ arachnids, 2 Oscars (1 albino tiger & 1 red), 1 Cockatiel, 2 Bearded Dragons, 1 Red-Earred Slider, 2 African Clawed Frogs (planted aquarium), 1 Crested Gecko in vivarium, 1 Cat , 1 Dog, 4 kids (3 still at home) lots of plants (tropical, temperate carnivorous & epiphytic) and a husband.
It's a jungle in here!
