i've been doing some research my self into fly larva as food. House Fly and there Larva are packed with harmful bacteria even when raised in clean environments. The best fly larva I have found is Black Soldier Fly Larva, aka "Phoenix Worms" It seems the Black Fly produces anti-bacterial substances during the larval phase and they are parasite free naturally. The Adult Fly's do not have mounths nor eat. They only live long enought to mate and lay a few batches of eggs. I've been thinking a Solder worm colony myself...but Im not sure I have the room atm...
