I think you probably could spray it without the straw, but it would probably come out WAY to fast and make a mess. It IS, however, very easy to get the GS out of the straw. All you have to do is find something rigid that is thin enough to fit through the straw, and slide the GS out of the straw (pull the straw off the trigger part first). If the trigger part is clogged too, push the GS out of it as well (you may need something that will bend, but is still fairly rigid, if that makes any sense). Make sure you shake the can a little longer than you would if it is a fresh can, that way it will still dispense properly. I have done this several times with great success.
