Hmmm... usually that rolling scroll (which is usually hung on a wall) is "kakejiku" not "kakemono" and "kakeru" refers to hanging or hooking something up. Actually "kake" could refer to many things that's why I was uncertain what the meaning was. "Mono" can be a thing or a person too, so I thought they were referring to a person since it was someone's name.
And yeah your japanese grammar is bad

"Nani tabemono o tabemasu ka?" should be "Nani o tabetai desu ka?" but I know what you meant, you were trying to use tabemono in a sentance for this example?
When they come back maybe they will explain? Maybe it's just bad japanese also?
