Hi from South Africa
Hi there
I live in Gauteng South Africa (home of the FIFA 2010 world cup) and having been keeping varies herps for some 15 years, ranging from Chelonians, Lizards, Geckos, Snakes and Amphibians. The only thing I have never kept are crocodillia.
I have been trying to find some dendrobate fro some time now, but they are rarer than hen's teeth here in SA because they are listed as an alien invasive species (which is not even possible as we don't have the required climate condition to support the species), but still searching.
I have changed my focus to keeping and breeding indigenous South African amphibians and recently just got myself a young pair of rubber banded red frogs, a species that ranges throught sub-Saharan South Africa. I am picking up bits and pieces of the care and breeding of this species and basically keeping it similar to a dart frog with lower humidity. They are an extremely interesting species to be working with and would love to share some of my experiences with you all and also learn from you.
many thanks and looking forward to hearing some feedback.
Darryn
