Talking 75 gallon vivarium

Hey guys. I just recently obtained a 75 gallon acrylic fish tank from a buddy of mine. It was set up as a reef tank at once but I can't keep a huge aquarium in my apartment. I would much rather create a vivarium with frogs and salamanders. I've been going though the sites and think i want to make a central pond with a waterfall in the corner or possible a stream. Has anyone had experience with larger tanks? Which species would do alright with a deeper pond and whats the best material to border my pond? Also, I know acrylic gets scratched easily but will I have to worry? Sorry for all the questions I'm just new to this. I'll have a drawing up soon, just need to get my scanner working right again. If anyone has ideas that would be much appreciated.
