From what I've seen so far tree frogs in general seem much shyer than aquatic frogs. If mine see movement they will freeze. When I'm watching them at night I have to be very still not to interrupt them. My point is that even if thier day/night cycle was reversed they would probably still be disturbed by movement outside the tank and would get stressed. Maybe they would get used to that eventually?
RETF's can't see red. So any low intensity red light works well at night to view them.
