I was thinking sketch out what you want to do. Then use hangars, I would bend them into shape with pliers. If this is going into a water area then you'd have to make sure you use the wireframe as a kind of reverse mold that you would remove later .... or.... have it completely embedded into the GS so it wouldn't rust.
After the wireframe is done I would layer it with something neutral like plastic. Another thought was using mosquito netting. Maybe creating small dents simulating the bark. Then coating it with GS. After the GS is dry you could carve it out with a knife to make have recesses and bark like features? After that coat with silicone and while still wet sprinkle the coco bedding? After it's cured maybe removing the wireframe skeleton?
