GS won't hold up on it's own while wet. But you could always try? Maybe coating an acutual piece of a treebranch with all the little branches cut off.....then trying layers .... put a layer of GS on and letting it dry then repeating......letting each layer dry and then keep adding and letting them dry ? Eventually getting to the right thickness and height?
