no they are not kry. they are also not a REPTILE to be handled... they are exceptional in this respect even for a reptile! i think this is what johnedove was attempting to say.
one of the reptile show episodes here shows one eating and hanging out perched above a crowded area at a breeders stand.
edit: a hanging viv will have to be HUGE as these guys really do like their space and will not do too well in limited quarters. hanging vines across a corner of a room and putting a shelf w/a tall lip (plexi glass) and some track lighting might be a more suitable way to accomplish this than hanging an enclosure of some type.
also this could go great above the sulcatas especially if the ceilings are tall.
That is a great idea, actually, and I bet it would look awesome!
I want to clarify one thing.
Sulcatas are not Spur Thighs. There is some confusion between African Spurred Tortoise (Geochelone sulcata) and Spur Thigh tortoises (Testudo graeca)
Just thought I would point that out for those that may not know. There have been years of Sulcatas mistakenly called Spur Thighs, when in fact they are a different species altogether

Panthers tend to get very scetchy very quickly. my friend had 4 two in the living room and 2 in the bedroom. 5 years each. had a super bowl party and the 2 in the living room went belly up sometime after halftime from all the yelling , jumping and beer / pizza tossing. nobody touched them. The ones in the bedroom where there because thay would eat your face if you let them. I completely agree Red and Blue panthers are hands off pets.

What is this chameleon? Is this typical or has this been retouched?
Not retouched, just showing the world how annoyed he is. Lovely to look at, but for me, too much like hard work. I rather admire other peoples - without having to move around my house trying not to be seen or heard
Ick, if they are THAT sensitive, then maybe not the critter for me... I keep things as calm as possible for my herps, but with two small kids...

most definitely a panther chameleon! he looks angry and that how they "fire up" with those amazing colors...i would say hes an Ambilobe prolly...check out this site...amazing colors!!! screameleons.com they specialize in panthers....blue, pink, orange, red, even purples!
I own a blue barred Ambanja Panther Chameleon. They are GREAT animals. Hard to keep though. think hard before getting one. I have to keep 6 types of worms plus crickets! and He needs five differant supplements!
definitely panther chameleon... no doubt about it... he's on my want list... along with an iguana (which i will probably get from a local rescue when it's time)... they've been housed together successfully. that color is a result of breeding although some are not far from that in the wild during mating season.
that is no way proper to house them together the iguana will either kill the chameleon or he will die from stress. & the color is when they get "fired up" when they are stressed or in sight of a female or just a lil mad. deffinitly check out chameleonforum.com ! its so great :]
