Default New baby Fischer's Cham!

This is my first chameleon and I'm completely hooked after a full 24 hours. Only took one picture during the building process and it's of the finished viv. The tank is a zoo-med 12x12x18, and the background is made of a large piece of mopani wood and waterfall foam. It's coated in black silicon and covered in co-co fiber. There is a waterfall running down the wood and through a planter into the pool in the bottom of the tank. There is very little ground space in this tank and was actually designed with RETFs in mind.

I came across this little Fischer's chameleon at a semi-local pet shop a few weeks ago and I kept my eye on him/her (not sure yet) and it seemed to be losing weight but was eating well. I asked them to feed it more to see if it would fatten up but don't think it was done. So in an effort to rescue a very stressed animal, I got it yesterday.

It's eating well and loves the mist. Seems very comforatable and relaxed. Showing much promise.

Pictures....

keep him/her in a very quiet area with no traffic... he needs more cover as soon as possible... also, that viv is/will be way too small for him... these guys are real picky and could die from stress alone if their home isn't perfect... definitely more cover quickly.

best of luck... beck

I've already started planning to turn my old 40 breeder vertical and screening the front. I'm also looking for some more suitable plants to provide more cover. Thank you for the tips.

excellent... sounds like a plan... that is a nice little viv for something less picky or smaller... nice work... just wanted to note also... 40 is kinda on the small side of adequate, but should do... i understand space and prices, trust me... anyway that viv is off to a great start for another occupant!

I think dart frogs would look great in that viv.

I love chameleons, but I've never had one. I've always been scared off because of how hard to take care of they are.

He/she is fattening up well. Eating from my hand already. He's learned what the cricket keeper looks like... Any ideas on how to id gender at this age?
