I guess I am curious if you have ever owned a chameleon before?
If the answer is no then I would sway you to do as much research before even considering purchasing one. These are hard animals to keep alive in captivity. They are labor intensive. The only way to save labor is to spend money.
These have pretty basic care guideline on the following sites or at least interesting stuff.

As the work you will have to do with a chameleon can get overwhelming for a first timer it is probably better not to get a female. With females diets will have to monitered closely, supplementation will have to occur with different amounts at different times, and development of eggs (or for ones that have live babies going through the process) is very hard on them. Most females in captivity live dramatically shorter lives then males the determining factor is usually the owner. With an experienced owner they can live just as long, sometimes longer then males of the same species.
I would suggest a male veiled chameleon.
