What type/brand of silicone is safe to use in the vivarium. I found black silicone but I really don't think it will be safe to use to attach the bedding to the Great Stuff background. It was Silicone II and had Bioseal. Correct me if I'm wrong but I just want to be sure so my frogs don't die.
Take a look at the Post titled "Silicone and Cement Questions" back in August, it answered my same Question that I had asked shortly before you asked a similar Question, the GE Silicone II with "BioSeal" should be OK!
Thank you "Beingtrei"

100% silicone is safe after it has cured for at least 18 hours preferably 24. I use GE Silicone I (100% Silicone Rubber). If Silicone II is 100% Silicone then it should be alright. The color is not a factor. What you have to watch out for is Silicone that has a mold / mildew resistant formula. Usually it's the one that says "Tub & Tile" or Bathroom and Kitchen. That Mold & Mildew resistant kind has chemicals in it that will kill your frogs eventually, even after it's cured. I just checked the last tube I used and it says "windows and doors" on it.
Where is everyone finding their GE type 1 in black? Home depot and Lowes here in GA don't carry the stuff, and Ace will special order it for me but I have to commit to a case of 12 at $54......
GE silicone 11 has bio seal in it, witch is a mold inhibitor. I have read many mixxed reports on this product. I have used it with no ill effects. One general rule is to use the kitchen type silicone. Because if it considered food safe, than it should be ok. There are also posts on some boards that state reps from GE are saying bioseal was in silicone 1 just not advertised.
