Default New terrarium help!

Howdy folks,

Ive recently decided to get into this hobby, so after visiting half a dozen pet stores and just about every viva-palu-aqua-terra-ium website out there, it seems that this is the best place to apeal for guidance.

My objective is to build a live vivarium to ultimately house a few poison dart frogs. Populating the tank is contingent upon me completing the habitat in a way that makes these wonderful little guys as happy and healthy as possible...thats where you all come in

Im going to buy an exo terra cPanelŽ (the PT 2613 version). My tentative plan is this (please forgive the hasty drawing!):

In the top left and right are waterfalls...does anyone see any problem having 2? (only ever seen vivariums with one). Im going to use the false bottom method (deep water area) to feed the filter and pumps. The top left is (hopefully) that coconut bark stuff. The back wall will be some kind of material which allows plants to grow in/on it....

Please feel free to critique this setup, as its still in the formative phase and I need all the help I can get!

What I need the most advice with is once Ive completed the setup/building, what sort of soil/substrate do I use for the ground and the back wall for tropical plants to grow?

Looks good to me. I havn't got any experience of waterfalls, but I imagine it might take a larger part of the viv than you expect. What size is the viv?

For substrate, I use a mix of coconut fibres and regular soil at about 50/50 ratio. Just don't take soil with those white, small balls in it, it's potentially harmful if swallowed.
