Also, thanks for showing how you used a piece of egg crate in the bottom of the filter. I was having trouble figuring out how to keep the sponge off the outlet in there, so I cut the top off a plastic pot and made a plastic circle, it is keeping the sponge off the outlet, but it is oddly shaped and keeps part of the sponge from fitting close to the filter wall. It is also too high... I think I will be cutting a piece of egg crate later today for it, lol.

Thank you for the tips on the mold i got some more moss to start out fresh with and i will be installing a PC fan one of these days for now i took the tip of leaving the little door open on front and i have a fan pointed in there.

And also without the egg crate the water would barely flow it was like i was plugging the hole when i added it it flowed allot better.

Another thing i forgot to take a picture of is i put a small piece of foam over the filter inlet so that i wouldn't get any sand in the filter.

2 reasons

When spraying the foam it will spread out more if left just on the glass

And because of the high flow from the power head. Because im using sand i didn't want it to all end up in a pile away from the moving water.

One way I've set up tanks of 20gal ( high) and up to a 45 gal is to forget the whole eggcrate thing, simply divide the tank part way on a diagonal into land and about 1/3 water and use a ReptoFilter (Hagen) as a short waterfall hideable w/ driftwood and a cork back wall w/ a bit of Great Stuff filler.
That's an oversimplified description but it has many variations & can be cheap, fast, and beautiful. Also easy to maintain.

There is only 2 right now but im going to have 4 or 5.. what do you think?
Water was a bit cloudy i just stirred up the sand. there is a crab up at the top right bye the wood and another middle left in a hole. You can see his big claw.

Not only that but i need to get my hands on some Bumble bee gobies.

The other thing im trying to find is a moss that wont mold or die.

The mold will likely die off fairly quickly, you are going to get in in most vives to start with, unless the air circulation is perfect. Don't worry about it if mold grows, unless it gets out of control.

okay thanks for the tip!!

Today i got two redclaw crabs and started slowly converting it to brackish.

Good part: The crab will be healthier and live longer.

Bad part: If i ever add more fish or crab i have to put them in a seperate tank and slowly adjust the specific gravity of the water untill its safe to add them.

oh and salt creap i dont have any yet but im not looking forward to it.
