...About the fan across the front pane... would I use a second low volume fan just for that? Oh so much to consider (I love that!)
I tried several ways to aerate my vivs but what worked best for me was placing a small 40mm CPU fan (from an old (pentium class) PC processor powered by an a/c adapter) at the top center of the viv, (at the front) venting downwards. I have a sliding glass top on my viv and no canopy. I'm sure you've seen these, they have 2 panes; a front and a back & they slide backvards on a track at each edge to give you access to the tank. I swapped the original 2 rail track for a 3 rail and added a third pane that wasn't glass but actually nylon mesh. Now when I close the top and have the glass panes in thier closed positions the top glass pane completely covers the nylon mesh and closes off the tank. When I slide the top glass pane back it exposes the nylon mesh (incrementally) and that lets fresh air into the tank. I have the fan on a timer. - Also, if you want to do this, then the fan impeller has to be covered to protect your pets.
I just took a look at your pics, and let me say, I am quite impressed with your BG, especially that part on the left... Is that going to be a cave, or a waterfall? Whatever you plan for it, I love it!
