You cant glue things to acrylic. You can only bond it with a solvent (methylene chloride). I'd suggest using acrylic hinges. You can find them online easily

i dont know how well it will work with brass specifically...but ive glued something made of glass that brokeback together with that rearview mirror adhessive and then i broke it again and it broke perpendicular to the original crack like it wasnt there...i dont know where i got it tho...probably an autoparts store. i have seen sumone glue brass hinges and a latch with silicone tho and it worked

i think Tindo used brass hunges. maybe a PM to him could get you the info you need. i thought i remembered him using silicone though.

what kind if silicone did you try?

i use acrylic hinges even on glass doors. ive been using a 2 part epoxy from loc tite, and ive used silicone. i like the acrylic hinges because you can see through them. i havent found the totally clear epoxy yet, but a friend of mine is using a devcon brand that im yet to find locally.

heres a link to his conversion kits. he sells them with an acrylic piano hinge thats epoxied on. you can see how clear it comes out if you look at the bigger pic of the 10. i use the 2 1/2" hinges, but plan on trying out the piano hinge soon.

I used glass doors and brass hinges. I had no problems getting the hinges glued on with the silicone. I used all glass aquarium brand silicone and GE windows and doors silicone. I had a little trouble with one of the 4 hinges I did becuase it wasn't lined up right. SO everytime I opened the door, the motion would actually tear the hinge off the glass.

Hope this helps.

Also, make sure you clean the old silicone as best you can after every try. You can't silicone silicone to glass. I made that mistake a few times. I thought just peeling off the old silicone was enough. Not true. I had to wash the brass in nail polish remover to get it really clean.
