Default 20G lateral construction

Hi, I'm from Singapore and firstly I must congratulate on what a great forum you have here.
I'm in the process of convert a standard 60cmx30cmx45cm aquarium tank into a lateral vivarium which will eventually house 1 or 2 tree frogs, below are the drawings, the brown lines indicates the original tank and the arcylic/glass in black

Right now the bottom pc is glass, center(door) is arcylic whilst top pc either
1. glass-which will not have any ventilation holes or
2. arcylic- which would be easier to add in ventilation holes.
I still haven't make up my mind on this...
Another idea is to install a PC fan to the top pc but haven't work out how to attach that to the arcylic yet..:
The hinges on the door are arcylic and the black bit on the top of the door will have a lock.
Comments & ideas most welcome.

Cheers,
Ken

welcome to our VivariumForum!!

id say go wiht glass because its easier to work wiht and attach to other glass. you lso dont have to worry about it warping like you would wiht acrylic. if you are concerned about ventilation think about putting a screen section at the top of the door. if you do a fan, small holes in the lid wiht the fan placed over them would be sufficient (as long as frthe frogs cant get to the fan, or out of the encl;osure through the holes).

I don't think I come across gorrila glue around here, any pics to show the product? I might find something similar in other brands available here.

Some modification to the plans. Landon, is this what you're referring to? see drawing below

There's no lid on the top as this is actually a conventional 20gal fish tank turned on its side...the top is glass.

That is close to how I,ve done it. I made the entire tope piece (the small rectangle above the door) a screen. tindomule1of9 made the same out of 20 gal longs and that is where I got the idea. he has pictures and step by step in the construction forum.

Hi, looks like a good plan. I would also go with glass simply because it will have better adhering properties. If you make a screen ontop of the glass/acrylic door you will be able to glue or silicone a fan onto the screen.
If you would like to see what Im talking about, take a look at this:
About to build my First Vertical tanks! Update on page 2
I can't wait to see your finished product, and don't be afraid to keep us up to date on any changes. Welcome to the Vivarium Forums.

that is exaclty what i was talking about it looks like
Tindo has you linked to a thread. ill assume it was his thread in which he made great details on how to construct a screen out of readily availabvle materials. his method is the one most commonly used, and ive had many vert tanks constructed the same way.

as he said, please keep us updated on this project. im looking forward to seeing it come together....

oh and my apologies for that last message. i just read it and it was horrible. ill keep a better eye on what im posting from here on out

Some updates on the plans, I may decide to go for a 2 sliding glass panels for the doors, however, I'm concerned if the silicon that glue the tracks, which is about 15mm wide, is strong enough to hold on to the top and bottom glass(6mm thick). Any suggestions or ideas to enforce this?
Cheers,
Ken
