I don't like using this method as it usually looks unnatural, and usually leads to all the water on the pond side wicking up between the glass wall/divider angle, and soaking the soil on the terrestrial side. Plus you should have a way to control the amount of water on the terrestrial side as well.
I like to use tall pieces of rock siliconed to the bottom of the tank to form the shoreline. It holds back the land separate from the soil, you can make it any height, and it looks more natural as you can make the shoreline any shape you want. And you can even create multiple shorelines depending on the size of the tank.
