Default Great Stuff, questions?

I am looking to start on a new tank for my turtle, Cortez and was looking for some knowledge.

I would like to create an eroded river bank. It would cover the top quarter of his tank on the backwall. I wanted to use great stuff but I am really not sure if it would hold up to that type of water exposure. I of course will cover it with silicone but there is not guarantee that I can cover everything 100%. On top of that he does have some decent sized claws for his size which could puncture the silicone. I would like this to be above the water line.

In the bank I would like to place small stick striped of bark. In my mind it would look like roots from near by plants that are exposed because of the currently low water level. Any input on whether this is a good or bad idea?

I would really like to go elaborate but I think it is over kill for a turtle. I nice little waterfall in a corner or something would be nice though. I am really not even sure how to begin on making a waterfall. I can kind of see some rocks in a corner with the water rolling over them into the water.

Also can anyone recommend any aquatic plants?

Does anyone have an idea on how to lock the top? It is a 29g with just a screen top. He has managed to escape the tank three times. I am guessing he shimmied up the glass and cords? That is why he is named Cortez, he likes to explore.

I know alot of question that range all over the place. Any input is greatly appreciated. I guess I should mention he is a musk turtle.

Get clips for the sides to secure the cage. your Local pet store should have them they cost like $2. Great stuff is water proof once it cures. What type of turtle is Cortez? most turtles will eat aquatic vegetation so make sure you get non toxics, and can deal with your forest getting munched a little.

He is a common Musk turtle. I really do not mind if he eats on the plants. I am not sure which ones are non toxic. I have a huge list as far as land plants go but not aquatic.

There is a sticky in TERRERIUMS: PLANTS. that has a good list of plants to avoid dont know if there are any aquatics or not. if you search on line for plants to avoid with turtles you should find some. then if you have time and we dont have them listed in our dangerous plants sticky you could add to the list.
