Default A NEW CONTEST!!! Short contest, first one guesses wins.

I am going to post a series of pictures. The first one to guess the answer to the question gets the prize, which will be some rep points. 20 sound good? Yup, 20... lol

Ok, here is the pic:

The question is, what is the barrier on the left side of the tank made of, and what was the method used to create it. Partial answers don't count, you have to answer both parts of the question to get the prize. Good Luck! If no one gets it with the first pic, I will post another, which will be clearer, and then one more if no one gets it then.

For the life of me I see no barrier so I assume "it" is the left side of the tank..

I will guess Glass..
Glass that starts as different powders ( often silica) super heated till it melts and is processed.

nope, lol...

Here is the next pic:

The barrier is a "substrate barrier" of sorts. I say of sorts because part of what is behind it is just open space, but it is holding some aspen and rocks for the corn to hide in.

Good luck folks!

For the second part of the question a general idea is fine, as I doubt anyone will guess exactly what I did. I will say that I based it on a revolutionary method that I read about here on the site... But I didn't do that exactly and guess that isn't enough to win.

Nope, sorry, that would give it away too easily!

I will give one more hint: It is one piece, made of one material (as in no eggcrate type structure to hold it's shape).

I have a random guess, based solely on the sheen of the material in the second picture: is it marble? Was it made into/from a tombstone?
