Default Alternate Food?

Has anyone ever tried using something else than crickets to feed thier frogs?

I'm feeding my aquatic frogs crickets and earthworms now. I'd like them to work a little harder at getting thier food because I think it would actually be healthier for them.

I'm thinking common houseflies. Has anyone tried this and if so can they be cultured?

One more thing, has anyone ever tried to culture earthworms?

Thanks guys

Yes i catch common house flies and put them in my tank we have plenty in Oz. At night i also put the outside lights on and catch moths with a net. My tree frogs love it good exercise for them too If you plan to use house flies make sure no one in your house uses insect spray.

Yeah, I'm thinking about culturing the flies actually not catching them. With flies - I'm not sure it would be the best food because well.... you know where flies go.

A culture might be ok though and I'm actually thinking I might be able to create an automatic feeder with cultured houseflies. Had time yesterday to research it on the net and it can be done pretty easily. I'll try to build that in the new year and then test it. If it works I'll post the pics.

I have to go to Japan for christmas and new years and I had to get someone to come to stay at my place to take care of my frogs. It would be nice to have an automatic feeder.

If you live in a state with termites you will find that they are fairly easy to harvest.

I am trying to cultur earhworms but it takes some time.
It's not easy to culture houseflies, they pass through some stages which you must give the same condition as if they were in the wild
