From what ive seen around the traps here in OZ, the rust really shouldn't be a problem.

Frogs deal with all sorts of man made probs in the wild.
If they dont like it, they die.
Blunt but true..
I have seen creeks that are abundant in frog life, living in, and around rusty objects. It doesn't seem to bother them.

Hawaiian D. Auratus strugle with habitat and are more often than not found breeding in thrown out cans. Sam is a D. Bastmentos right? prety hardy frogs I hear, but my modo is if Im woried about something I take it out

what is the metal made out of? some metals are pretty benign, but others can cause some serious issues with amphibians.
