Default Finally got Frogs

Hey everybody,
I got my tank situated finally and picked up 4 turquoise auratus. They have all been introduced to the tank and seem to be doing great. It has been a week now and one frog remains in the top back corners of the tank only sometimes moving from one top corner to the other. The guy I got the froglets from suggested pushing it down at feeding time, but even then it climbs straight back to the top and hides once I leave it alone. I did see it eat one or two flies near it before it climbed back up, and on several occasions I have seen a fly here or there climb to his hiding place and be eaten. The other three frogs have no problem with the others and seem a little skiddish. At feeding time, however, they go straight for the food. Im enjoying them very much at this point but may need some advice about the froglet that hides in the top. I was considering maybe separating it in just an empty tank for a while just to make sure it eats enough food. Any advice?

You should separate the shy one from the rest. Especially if you think he is getting thin, or is smaller than the other three. The other might be intimidating him in oneway or another. Anyway, setup a little 5 or ten gallon quarintine tank for him and make sure he eats alot and gets used to you. Then once you are satisfied he is ok, you can reintroduce him.
Good luck!
Any pics??

Today it seems he made a little progress when i pushed him down during feeding..he ate some flies and stayed on the ground level for about 10 min before climbing back to his hiding place. Usually he immediately starts climbing again. He isn't thin compared to the others he is one of the bigger...its funny the smallest one is always eating. maybe it wont be the smallest for long. I also took some pics that I will attach soon.

from what i read auratus are pretty shy frogs. i dont have a lot of exp with them, but IME with other shy frogs, you arent seeing anything un-natural. give him a little more time to get used to his surroundings. i wouldnt force him out of hiding to eat. you may be just adding to the stress. just make sure soem FF are getting up there to him. if you arent satisfied he is eating, it would be better to remove and seperate him, than to continue forcing him out of hiding. you could feed the bottom of the tank as normal, then add a little onto the background under him. FFs will generally make their way up to the top, so as long as they are above the other eating frogs, they should get up to you shy frog.

good luck and keep us posted!

im looking forward to pics. turq auratus ae one of the most beautiful frogs, IMO.

P.S. there arent any specific time frames, but ive had shy frogs take a motnh or more before regularly venturing out into the open. my vents are still a challenge to see sometimes, and ive had them for over 18 months.

Well I have seen the shy one out of hiding recently in a few areas of the tank so I think everything will be alright. It is also eating for sure now. I just took some pictures recently so I am going to try to load them on here if I can.

Default Wow

Those are amazing, look like little blueberries lol. I actually looked for a blue one but came across this nice mint one. She (I think she) is soooo bold! She sits out all day in the fron of the tank looking for flies to be dropped in. I did not like Auratus at first but now they are really growing on me. Great bunch.

That is an amazing set of colors! Many auratus have beautiful colors on them.
