I would suggest D. auratus. They seem to be bold and you are more likely to watch them eat when you feed them. The larger darts are less skitish. Pumilio aren't necessarily for more advanced keepers, simply for someone who is confident enough in having read and spoken with others about keeping them to spend the $130 + dollars they are worth.
I have two and I keep them in a twenty long turned vertical. One is active, and energetic, and less skitish. The other I see only every other day, but is also healthy. Either one you decide on, definetly pick up a book on darts, this will help you, as it did me, tremedously.

Glad you decided to join the dart club, they are great, lots of fun, and true jewels. And in reality easy to care for, once you know what you are doing.
