Default new to the world of viv/darts.

I was looking to purchase one of these nifty creatures, and I've decided to these 2.

Red Poison Dart (D. Pumillio) (sp?)
Green and Black Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus)

-

basically, i want 10 gallon, verticle.

I was wondering how I should setup.
How long should it be running before purchasing the frog.

I would do some reading before you purchase. I would suggest going with a pair of D. Auratus in the 10 gallon and save the D. pumilio are a more advanced keeper frog. also in a 10 gallon I would advise against keeping multiple species. I'd go with a pair of what you want the most, but
D. Auratus are the most recomended beginner PDFs from what I have seen.

Oh don't worry I didn't plan to mix them.

I know that much not to mix species in that small of a viv.

Right now yes, I am aiming towards the D. Auratus. I am still debating now if i want 1m1f, or go 2f.

I would suggest D. auratus. They seem to be bold and you are more likely to watch them eat when you feed them. The larger darts are less skitish. Pumilio aren't necessarily for more advanced keepers, simply for someone who is confident enough in having read and spoken with others about keeping them to spend the $130 + dollars they are worth.
I have two and I keep them in a twenty long turned vertical. One is active, and energetic, and less skitish. The other I see only every other day, but is also healthy. Either one you decide on, definetly pick up a book on darts, this will help you, as it did me, tremedously. Glad you decided to join the dart club, they are great, lots of fun, and true jewels. And in reality easy to care for, once you know what you are doing.
