Default vivarium and mold

I just joined this forum, so first a big hellow to everyone. My terrarium has some mold growing on the wood, (cyprus) and on some parts of the soil. Is this a danger to my D. tinc.? If so do I have to decomission the entire tank, sterilize, bake wood, buy new substrate? And what about the plants? Can I keep them? I have read that mushrooms are ok in the terrarium, however this is just a whitish mold.
Also (this probably contributing to the mold) I have a pool in the tank with a water fall consisting of a pump and tubing falling into the pool. In order to keep the level I kept adding water to the pool, thinking that it was evaporating, however the water was actually spilling out into the tank. Subsequently, the water table in the tank is all the way up to the top of the substrate layer, creating a very wet environment, but the humidity will only stay constant with regular misting. Why isn't the water table water evaporating and keeping the tank humid?

Ill try to help and im sure others will chime in.

first welcome.

Mold is ok. in a wet/humid environment a little mold is inevitable. most should go away. if it becomes too prevalent do a deep clean. also seeding the tank with spring tails will help. they will eat wast and provide a snack now and then for the PDF.

the water level is a problem. I would make sure you have a sufficient drainage layer under the soil(gravel, expanded clay, ect..) with soil that wet your plants will rot and you will definately get to much mold and it will start to stink!

you should not be having humidity problems. what do you have for a lid? if you have a full screen top cover a part of it with a piec of plastic or saran wrap to hold in the moisture. what temperatures do you have the tank at? if it is within safe ranges an increase of afew degrees could help raise humidity
