my point on the plant pot is that if the frog whishes to burrow in the soil to cool/hide as tarestrial frogs do, he would not be able to dig were the plant pot is as it is impossabel for a frog to dig through ceramic pots. from my expireinces frogs prefer natural shelter rather than purchased pots or hides, and they should be as free as possible to choose there own hiding place....

as for the iq of 4 that is a fairly stupid comment, would not be able to do much with a level that low, and i hope this is not a reflection of your true knowledge.....

as for the water level no frog is completley incamble of some form af swimming and the more water that covers the frog the better, obviously not submerging the frog under but atleast to the base of its head. the main point i made about the water area was that it looks small for the frog to be able to move around in.....

and as for your last comment about being the only the only one with an opinion thats correct, joing the comunist party and dictating china, i am fully aware that other people have a valid input but you had no need to quote and pass comment on what i said as you could of joined the debate with your own views without referencing against mine. my political views, not that they are the piont of this thread are BNP and as for being the next dictaor of china or ussr i think its apalling you have to refernce places that have such a hard time with things like this.......

now lets get back to the point on hand and help Mr_Milkman with his set up....

the reason i referenced yours is because they were good answers but wanted to provide a counterpoint to your argument. as i said i agree with most of what you said. except on the plant pot which i still think will be fine.

he is likely to hide in or around it.
the one reservation i have about the set up is the ammount of time that the frog is going to be in there, it's going to out grow it pretty quick and then it will need deeper water and more space.

in my experience horned frogs don't tend to move about much at all other than if you put a new plant in they dig it up or sit on it.
and when you give them water they go in the middle and take a dump almost instantly.

ok fair enough, i see we both have different opinions on the plant pot, geuse OP will make his mind up, dont think either is wrong just going on my expierences and what i found worked best...

i apologise for jumping in hastely, but too many people want to pick or dig at a post rather than give help on the topic...

i do agree that the viv will b out grown quick and yes they are not the most active frog, just think it is better to provide an area with the option to be able to move around if they need to, rather than having to back in and out. even aparent slow and inactive frogs can move quick when startled or scared...

i would personaly provide a water area that slopes from shalow to deep giving him the option of being able to choose how covered he is, i know it would not be very easy in a small viv, perhaps a thought for when he is upgraded...

Welcome to the discussion CaptainCarrot and thanks for starting a flame war! Just messing. I appreciate your input. I never thought much about the gravel being swallowed, and although it is only in the water, it is not going to be a concern of mind and an aspect I may wish to change.

I won't be too surprised if everything in the viv is turned upside down and inside out in 24 hours. I don't mind though. As far as the pot debate, if he uses it then it'll stay, if he just digs it up (its only a very small portion of the whole pot, not even the whole top section) then I'll take it out.

The water IS currently rather shallow, and I will raise/lower the water level as need be as well as make it a bigger area when necessary. It is a small viv and I understand that Pacman frogs get large and when he gets too big, he will be moved into a 10 gallon (or more if need be), but like I said earlier, the 5.5 gallon was more a test to see what I could do with live plants. I always wish to provide the best care for all my animals, hence why I look for and appreciate all the feedback I am getting.

I hope the arguments are over and we can all get back to what's important, me. :P
