hi , a newbie to forum but have a link for a site which might help- have used their procedure to breed house flies and it works extremely well. Best of all the maggots and flies are really clean and greatly reduces the risks of introducing nasties to the consumers. And no meat needed. Will work all year round so no shortages over the cooler months.

Wow, thanks alot! When I am able to start culturing them, I think that will work nicely! Lots of yummies for my babies!

i've been doing some research my self into fly larva as food. House Fly and there Larva are packed with harmful bacteria even when raised in clean environments. The best fly larva I have found is Black Soldier Fly Larva, aka "Phoenix Worms" It seems the Black Fly produces anti-bacterial substances during the larval phase and they are parasite free naturally. The Adult Fly's do not have mounths nor eat. They only live long enought to mate and lay a few batches of eggs. I've been thinking a Solder worm colony myself...but Im not sure I have the room atm...
