Default Where is good place to get crested's?

Who is a good breeder to get crested's from? I see Petco sells them sometimes, but locally there aren't any for at least a few months, if then. I can't spend way too much on them!! So I'm not looking for those special special special ones!! Cute is fine! Pretty is a bonus!

Where are you located? I don't have any I want to get rid of right now, but come late spring and summer I typically have lots of eggs/hatchlings. Let me know if you can wait a few months.

I'm in South Louisiana. We finished my teen daughter's vivarium several weeks ago, and now she's ready to put something in it! She originally wanted dart frogs, but really likes the crested's. (I like the fact you don't have to culture flies!!!) Looks like females are tough to get unless you want to spend more. But you can only have one male in a tank it appears. I'm afraid to get two or three juveniles because how can we possibly get rid of one (or two) if there's too many males?? She'll never want to do that. I'm looking around at websites, breeders, etc, classifieds on kingsnake.com. GEEEESSSHH these little guys are expensive!! (she's paying for them!!!) Esp the gorgeous ones!! I really love the flame harlequins.... We're not looking to breed, so two or three females alone would be fine (if I can find them without spending an arm and a leg) Reminder, this is for a pet. If you know anyone who might be letting some go cheap, let me know!! Otherwise, I'll keep watching and waiting, and maybe contact you again in the spring!!

Hi there, I'm a crested gecko breeder and I go to The Pangea Forums - Powered by vBulletin for any questions I ever have on crested geckos. If your going to own a crestie, just register for free now... There is some incorrect information out there on caring for cresties (ie. they should be fed baby food, not good...) so be careful, but that site has some amazing members that are very smart. That site also has a classified section and tons of crested gecko breeders which I post on all the time. Finding females can be very tough and as soon as you can sex a crestie the price goes up (especially if female) the females also sell really fast...

I hope you find what your lookin for... my website is, Rapture Reptiles - Crested Geckos and I have a good care sheet on there, check it out!

Good luck!

Default baby crested

Actually, I purchased a juvenile from Reptile Depot several months ago. Even though I didn't get to see a picture of it before it shipped, they did really well in picking a beauty. They sent a nice harlequin, and I think it is going to be female! My daughter is extremly pleased with it, and named it "Harley". We'll look at possibly getting a friend several months from now, when I know "for sure" what sex this one is!! And I got one of those magnetic trays from Pangea Reptile. The crested loves it!

very cool! Glad to hear. I've purchased some stuff from Reptile Depot too I've heard good things about the Pangea Reptile gecko ledge but I use very small (1/2 oz squat, the best!) feeding cups and they don't fit... Did you find the forum on Pangea? it's a little tricky... On the home page you have to scroll down to the very bottom and find the forum link, but there are almost 2000 crestie owners on there and it is pretty cool...

Yeah, my 3/4 oz souffle cups don't either, so I put a plastic medicine cup in first. It stays fine, then I replace the paper ones to feed. I don't use the bigger 2 oz side at all. We were putting the crested diet on the bottom of the vivarium floor for a few weeks, but it was so humid it was molding the food by the next day. I don't think she was eating it there, either. But we always find her on the ledge, or find an empty dish! It's not too far from her favorite "sleeping" plant! I built her a 30 gal high vivarium complete with driftwood waterfall and small pond. She's done very well, especially since she was transferred to her permanent home. She actually comes to us (if you're standing there) looking for crickets once her daytime lights go out.
