Question Help!! Escapee Tokay Gecko

I have a Tokay Gecko that escaped from his vivarium 6 days ago. He darted out when I opened it to feed him. I have just had back surgery about a month ago and just couldn't keep up with him. I have almost caught him once after baiting him with wax worms but he was just too quick. I have seen him a few times after that he seems to be living in my wall of a closet we were in the process of remodeling to build a huge vivarium. It has several holes in the sheet rock. Any ideas on how to capture him? He is about 11 inches long. I still leave food out for him every night and most times it is gone in the morning but even though I get up every few hours to check it I still cant seem to catch him. Any Ideas would be great!

Try a shoe box with a hole in it to place the food in. You may even be able to create a simple box trap out of it with a weighted flap that can close over the hole on the inside and som type of release mech attached.

Check behind and on curtains. be careful when opening doors and closing them, I lost a gold day gecko that way. If you have a fireplace close it up to avoid escape to the outside.

As long as he stays in the house, you are ok, and will catch it at some point.

you should be nervous of him getting out....or snaping your fingers when you sleep

Get a big cardboard box, cut a gecko sized hole in it, place food at the bottom. If the box is big enough and dark enough with any luck the tokay will spend the night there after eating the bugs. Then you can deal with grabbing it out of the box and putting it back in its cage.
