I'm not holding my breath. A friend of mine picked up/adopted a baby cornsnake for me at a pet store. It was being sold off cheaply because it was a bit 'deformed' and no one wanted it. Upon seeing the lil bugger, I wonder if its back is broken. I can see very easily a sharp "peak" in its spine. It has very limited movement of the portion of the body beyond this peak. Also there is a marked difference in the thickness of its body -- the portin before this -- should I call it a "break"? -- is noticably thinner than the portion of the body that comes after. Supposedly they fed it at the pet store. But I do wonder did anyone take note if it actually defecated?
If it cooperates, I'll try to take a pic or two later.
Okay here are some pics of the lil bugger ... think it might be a female but not sure. I am a bit more hopeful as to the outlook as it did defecate (unfortunately on me...) so it must have eaten something.
first the cute shots:
Now the area of concern:
If trying to support its upper portion, the body is 'bent' at about a 45 degree angle.
Notice that the section in question never touches the ground
As a result of this injury/deformity, the lil devil is really quite clumsy
this is a really good site, covers pretty much everything you could want to know on corns, I think. I'm a newbie there too so haven't made it to all the areas yet, but post pic you will get plenty of responses. The most complete cornsnake forum for hobbyists and professionals
btw its still a cute lil bugger. It maybe a defect they call kinks and they can vary from mild to pretty bad from what I've picked up so far knowledge wise.
