Default Mold in Vivarium-questions

First attempt at vivarium... piece of wood purchased at pet store started to grow mold after about a week of being in completed (mostly) tank. Planning to buy a pair of Dumpy tree frogs, was wondering if mold was bad for them. If so, any solutions?
-Thank you,
Jack

mold isnt usually harmful. if anything it will slow the growth of the plants it comes in contact with. ive even heard of it overgrowing and killing off plants, but its never happened to me. springtails are my only answer. they seem to keep the mold levels pretty low in most of my tanks. they dont keep them mold free, but close enough for me.

Typically when you start a new viv there will be mold here and there. It will clear up on its own, don't worry about it.

yea, springtails eat mold, hence why thier good in a viv for mold control.

they also offer food for any animals, athough not much so i woulden't depend on springtails as a food source.

I had mold starting in one are of my terrarium and on a whim sprinkled some charcoal over it. It was gone the next day... now whether it would have cleared up without the charcoal or if the charcoal actually helped I don't know.
