Default Heritage Park Zoo

Prescott, AZ is home to a small rescued animal zoo, called Heritage Park Zoo. Considering what they have to work with, which ain't much, they do fairly well. They are in the midst of building a new reptile house. The current facilities are just short of "sucks" right now. I got some pics of reptiles, but the majority will have to wait for a return trip (and this time, I'll bring my tripod).

Anyway, here are the pics that I could get.

This is "Clyde" their 12'6" Burmese Python. The website says he isn't on display, but he was the day I was there.

A desert tortoise chowing down...

A Northern Pine Snake...

They also have a display called Tarantula Grotto. They have a rather nice collection of tarantulas. They have something like 22 or 24 species, 13 of which are on display at any given time.

This one is a Bird-Eating Tarantula. His abdomen was the size of my fist, and he had about a 10" leg span.

If you live in AZ, make a trip to the place sometime. They aren't as impressive as the Phoenix Zoo, or the Desert Museum in Tucson, but they are serving a useful function, and they need the support.
