Talking 10 Gallon Vetical Vivarium

Well Im working on my first Vivarium!

Im not new to herps or aqueria. I have a 29 Gallon Aquarium with a Bristlenose Plec, 2 Long fin Leopard Danios, 1 Long Fin Zebra Danio, 4 Neon Tets, 4 Green Neon Tets, 8 Ghost Shrimp, an African Dwarf Frog, 1 Ivory Mystery Snail, 1 Black Mystery Snail, a Gold Inca Snail, and 3 male Fancy Guppys (sounds crowded but its not, and its Gorgious!). I ahve a 55 Gallon Aquarium with a School of 5 Green Tiger Barbs(Hilarious fish!) 1 Spotted Pictus Cat (NEVER stops moving!) 1 Stripped Rafiel Cat (Awsome, Awsome Catfish!) and one 7" Tire-Track Eel. I have a 10 Gallon with a Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula, A critter carier set up to house the Rose Hairs Crickets, and a 20L housing a young Royal "Ball" Python (BEEutiful pater and color!) Ive also in the past kept Leopard Geckos, More Royals, and various fish. Ive also been around Corn Snakes.

Ive wanted PDF's for a long time but only recently took it seriously .

The set up im building was inspired by Tindomul and is a 10 gallon. I am making it verticle with a drop down door and utilizing a false botom. It will have a water fall and pond. I will be using Handi-Foam for the back and covering it with Coco Fiber ( Thanks fot the ideas Tindo!) I plan to use Creeping fig, some moss (dont know what type yet) and maby some smaller Broms??( im very open to suggestions!) For substrate I will use AGB. and ill probably get a small computer fan for air flow

Where I need help is in heat and light. Any ideas? I have a 50 watt submersible heater I could place in the bottom and set for like 70 or 75 (good bad?). But I am not shure what I will use for light!

Hope I didnt go on to long. ill try to get some pics of my project and my other critters before to long.

Thumbs up Update!

I got my Glass for the door today. the cuts were a little off so it barely leaves room for the ventilation screen and I mean barely! I should be able to make it work though. Im very frustrated with my Home Depot! They dont carry exspanded clay pellets any more amd no exspanding foam except Great Stuff. I realy wanted to use Handi-Foam but I will use whay I can get as long as it is safe! I should begin construction this week! ill get some picks.

Hey!
Glad my pics inspire people to build!
Great Stuff is fine. To make it look good make sure you smear black silicone on the glass first, then spray the foam. Then smear more black silicone on the foam to cover it with coco-bedding or what ever you are using. You can also use brown.
I think that once all the glass and screens are in place you will find that the glass door not only opens and closes with little effort, the tightness will keep the door closed even without the latch. I always use the latch, but its good that the door stays closed until I pull it out.
Also if you are going to attach the fan the way I did, do it before setting up the viv, cuase it becomes a hassel to glue a fan on a vertical surface when the tank is standing up.
Good luck and show the pics if you can!!!

Wink Frog Choices

Well I belive I know what frogs I want to get in the spring! I am thinking of geting a trifecta of D. Imitator or a pair of D. Auratus. Then again D. pumilio 'bastimentos' are very neat I've got time yet! Has any one on here purchased anything from www.brianstropicals.com? He looks like a realy good breeder. Who do you guys get your frogs from? Any I deas on reputable breeders I can look into? I wont be purchasing frogs till spring ( if I can make myself wait, if im ready before then and can get what I want I make no Promises) But I like to have everything planned out when it comes to dealing with living things. I am also very interested in Tinc "Cobalt" and Tinc "Oelemari" What do you guys think a good pair for my firsts would be?

Well I am not going to get frogs in the near future. im just not in a situation to be the right care taker for PDFs right now. U did get the front finished and get the door on the tank. It has become home to a Rough Green Snake. It looks nice. The back is just black silicon bit it contrasts well with the fake foliage in the tank and helps to find the snake. Pictures soon I promise!
