indeed it was a design flaw as i called Exo and was told that i have an older model and all the newer ones dont have that gap and the " pad lock " feature is larger on newer models as well, The larger units have a problem with the doors sticking inside the top front frame as i found out from the guy at my LPS. seems the frame is slightly larger then the doors and being as flimsy as it is fits itself over the top egde of the door requireing you to push up the frame to open the doors.

That's good to know! We're always catching crickets from our little Exo Terra. I believed the design intent was to allow for tubes and such, but it's nice when a company admits it's wrong! I thought for a while the crickets were getting out the air vent in the front (our gecko is small and thus so are the crickets), but we've watched them crawl out the top lately!
I don't mind the tape idea for now, as I plan to redecorate soon enough.
You could always plug that sucker up with a tiny dab of GS!
Ooh, I shall definitely do so when we redecorate! Though, I will probably update to a bigger exo terra at that point anyway.. if I can find one locally. Petco has ditched the line. Only two more pet stores I can try in the area!
