IMO, you could do as many as six GTFs in a tank that size (I have one, used to house my frogs/toads and now houses my CWD). I had six herps in my tank, and they had plenty of room. If you decide to put anoles in there too, I would say, 4 GTFs and 2 anoles.

This is what I was thinking. Getting more GTF's and maybe a couple anoles (with the anoles, get 1 male, two females. That and a pair (maybe two) of GTF's and you should have a nice tank ssetup for them all in the 40 gal.

Now that I think about it,i might just go with a few GTF's like you said.

How many would you suggest to be in one 40 gallon?

Considering that they'd have enough room.

Also, how do you get a custom sized screen for FBs?
GTF's alone, I'd put 5 or 6 like froggsong said. But I would put a few anoles for more action.

I don't know why anoles just die like they do.

Tiamat, I'd like to say its just you, but apart form the one we had that lived about 4 years and the first one we got from a carnival (I know, I know...) All of ours died without good cause. Obviously the last one died of old age as Anoles usually live around 2 years. The first was never in good condition. What would you expect out of a carnival prize.

Only live around two years!?! I hadn't heard... Mine lived over four years, and he was full grown when I caught him... Perhaps I have been beating myself up for not noticing he was sick or whatever and he just died of old age... I can tell you right now why anoles tend to just die. They are almost ALWAYS wild caught, then kept in poor conditions, without the proper sized cage, and are generally so stressed they don't live very long. I'm from SC, where they are very abundant in the wild, therefore also VERY abundant in the pet trade... I have seen them housed in containers smaller than the length of their bodies in pet stores... When purchasing a green anole, you should always buy one that is actually green, rather than brown, which is a sign of stress. Just my two cents... Not saying any of you haven't cared for yours properly. I'm not the biggest fan of anoles, because I am afraid of their bite (which isn't bad, I know... it's a childhood fear), but I love them because they remind me of home.
