Default Possible Chameleon Project

I got this second hand from a friend. Looks brand new. I have been kicking around the idea of making it into an adult enclosure for my Jackson Chameleon. The top portion of the furniture measures out at 18"x20"x32" which is adequate for a Jackson (considered a medium sized chameleon). Now I do have a couple problems with using this for a cage but still kind of in development stages there though. Have considered removing middle shelf, doors and wire holder (middle back in picture). This would give me more vertical and maybe necessary for drainage. Jackson require 20-40 minutes of misting daily. I will post pictures and probably questions once I get something nailed down as far as a full plan goes.

Just a fast thought:
how about looking at it on its side?

Give the Chameleon a lot more room to move horizontally
and in fact have no floor per se just branches etc. I dont recall Jacksons needing any kind of terrain at all.
Just a thought!

Chameleons like being high up. This gives them a sense of security. Horizontal cages usually make for a skidish chameleon and causes undue stress to them by always wanting to climb up (basically getting out of harms way).
