Default Ultimate Orchid Case

I finally got around to creating a web page to document my climate controlled orchid case (wardian case). I think it is pretty cool... computer controlled with updates to the internet every 5 minutes. And I think it looks nice too.

Barron,
I enjoyed reading how you did this and the orchid pictures too. Wow, you sure did take a while to put this project together, but the years of thinking about it probably helped you imagine a better end result. Very inventive!

Barron impressive setup. The computer monitoring feature is a nice addition. Must have taken quite awhile to setup. Does the computer react to changes in the vivarium and change the water out put depending on the change?I too keep orchids though I just started. In my current vivarium I've got a Lady slipper. Ive got plans of getting a Cattelya then a blue Vanda.

Dreamscape,

Yes, the only thing it really "senses" is temperature, and then tries to correct that by heating/cooling water that is pumped through the fountain. The flow is pretty constant - only the temp of the water changes.

The following orchids have done REALLY well in it: oncidiums, phal's, paphs and phrags and cattleyas, and my first dendro is growing vigorously. I have not had good luck with mini-cats as I don't think they are getting enough light. A vanda would need more light to bloom than I'm setup to give - and probably more heat too.

If anyone has any recommendations on critters that could control scale, I'd be happy to know. In such close quarters, any pests spread quickly.
