Question Q for those of you who have a waterfall

in your setup. Out of curiosity, to what degree can you hear the water falling? Is it quite audible or has it turned out to be mostly to exclusively a visual thing [being that it is enclosed]?

I once had a waterfall in my 55 gallon tank. I had the water from the zoomed filter realease the water on to the fake branch that strangely hovers in mid air(attached to the glass). It made alot of noise, and lot of splash. I didn't like the splash so there is no more water fall.

if your asking this question because your wondering about putting in a waterfall, it wont be to accurate.
how much you hear a waterfall depends mainly on 3 things:
1. the height of the waterfall. taller = louder
2. the amount of flowing water. less water = quiter
3. the base of the waterfall. a slope is quiter then flat surface, no matter how high the waterfall is or how much water is going over it.

as for mine, i haven't made it yet, but i expect to hear it.
it'll be about 2ft tall, have an estimated 250gpm flowing over it, and it'll splash of a few rocks on the way down to a small pond.

we have several design with water falls and i cant really here it. it will depend on the how much it flows out and if it just cascades down something or drop off an ledge.

Mine is pretty loud. I submerged a small Powerhead under the rocks and ran a clear tubing to a hole in the rocks. It is quite relaxing to sit next to the tank.
