Talking 75 gallon vivarium

Hey guys. I just recently obtained a 75 gallon acrylic fish tank from a buddy of mine. It was set up as a reef tank at once but I can't keep a huge aquarium in my apartment. I would much rather create a vivarium with frogs and salamanders. I've been going though the sites and think i want to make a central pond with a waterfall in the corner or possible a stream. Has anyone had experience with larger tanks? Which species would do alright with a deeper pond and whats the best material to border my pond? Also, I know acrylic gets scratched easily but will I have to worry? Sorry for all the questions I'm just new to this. I'll have a drawing up soon, just need to get my scanner working right again. If anyone has ideas that would be much appreciated.

i would use plexi to create the pond. You can get acrylic sealent at any aquarium store. as for a stream, you can create it with great stuff foam to get whatever shape you want and then coat it with GE silicone II. stick rocks in the silicone to keep it natural looking.

thanks sclegelbagel. nice name by the way. I was looking up some ways to make water features today and was thinking of getting a hollow cork tube and possible bordering the pond with similar wood. You think this would be better than the plexi. I want to keep it as natural looking as possible. Also do you think I could harbor fish in the small pond?

i have no idea how it would work. Lots of this is trial and error. You could harbor fish, but you have to worry about your critters eating them!

and thanks for the name compliment. Last name is Schlegel and it rhymes with bagel. been a nickname since birth.
