Default starting a new one

i just purchase a used tank to make my second viva 24x30x18.the guy said it was a 54gal.i really dont know but it should work out well.going to order the fern panel very soon.i hope i can keep the anoles an a few darts togather or can this be done.

With the tank dimensions you give, your tank is actually a little over 56 gallons.

Multiply tank dimensions (24 x 30 x 18 = 12960) and divide by 231 (12960/231 = 56.1).

As far as mixing species, it is almost never a good idea.

I agree on both counts. Your tank is slightly larger than a 55 gallon, and you should not mix anoles and darts until you are very good at keeping both separately.
How thick is the tree fern panel, I've never tried it. I can't wait to see how it turns out. That is, I hope you plan to show pictures.

the fern panel is 1in thick i used it on my 30gal works great.i place it on the back wall also on both ends.if you have it going from the bottom to top of viv it will wick the water to the plants that are growing on the panel.as for pic i have no camera as of now.(sorry)
