Default 50 gallon Help!!!!!!

Hi I'm new to the forum and have some questions.
I'm trying to set up a vivarium for a 55 gallon long vivarium for my rough green snakes on a $100 budget. I would like to put in a small stream and "pond". I'll also need some tall leafy plants for the snakes. Thanks for ANY suggestions !!!!!!!

Alex

As for plants, maybe an Umbrella Tree? That is just a suggestion though. Might want to do some research on that plants to see if it really good for that tank. It can be tamed to what ever size you want and it gets pretty full.

Also, another would be Dracanea. It is a palm, but it has a lot of places and snake can rest on and climb to the tip top.

Is the 55Gallon on its side?

I love Rough Greens. I tried to rescue a sick one from Petco last year but it died. How long have you had them, and how many? These are great insectivorous snakes. Do you have a screen top? I know they like it a little humid but they need good air circulation as well. If you have a screen top you8 could find a way to hang a plant or 2 in baskets from it. RGS are arboreal and will appreciate allot of places to climb. They will also burrow from time to time and I would suggest aspen bedding or coco fiber as a substrate. They can be a stressed animal so lots of foliage and hiding areas would be best. Mine hardly ever came down from the top of the fake tree I made for it. I had mine in a 3'tall X2'deep X2'long Viv. They also like to soak and defecate in their water so it needs to be cleaned more frequently.

I have 2 1, 7months and 1, 4months they both take crickets from my hand.
I have the aquarium on it's side. Mine never go in the water even if the water is circulating with a pump.
Thanks

Alex
