Default hello from NJ

Hello,

I''ve been keeping aquariums forever and have recently started doing planted aquariums/vivariums and I am looking to learn a bit more about plants that can handle aquarium conditions...

I will try to post pics of my first project tonight...

Welcome to the forums, f22!

Pictures would be awesome! ^^
Although we don't have a whole lot of members who have spent a lot of time in the aquaria side of the hobby, we will do our best to answer any questions you may have regarding aquaria plants. Usually the talks revolve around vives.

on the contrary dazzle... they just don't post all the time. we get a lot of converts. fish people seem to have a lot more confidence and a jump on the whole "is it safe?" deal. but then many of them wither away into posting limbo. some never to be heard again. it's not like i'd expect you to know that though since lately it seems you're right.

ps... do you know where laplata is? i just had family up from there today and it's not too far from you dazzle.

f22... i am looking forward to it... we likey pictures.
welcome to the site.

The Planted Tank Forum

Hi f22,
Welcome to the site from another "hard core" aquarist. There are more of us here than most realize. This forum definately leans towards the animal/habitats
and the building of enclosures, vivariums, terrariums and paludariums, which may also interest you, because it sometimes includes fish
Do check out the above link for specialized planted aquariums.

thanks for reminding me stimpy... i've got some great aquatic plant info/links around and didn't think anything of it.

first off... check out anything you can find from hydrophyte. he's at the forefront of the riparium movement and he's a member of several forums so a search of his username should give you good results. i find his blog to be an interesting read from time to time also.

the nitty gritty... how it's done... favorite links thread you can get absolutely lost in all the aquatic plant info compiled here for quite some time!

why thank you stimp... my favorites are the barr report, the skeptical aquarist and james' planted tank. there are a LOT of highly regarded others worth noting though. for instance plant geek, guitar fish, etc. most are represented in that link i posted above including all that've been mentioned so far. i just linked directly to very helpful information. anyone who gets curious is more than welcomed to poke around a bit and see what else they can make useful. a couple of them like aquariacentral and tpt have pretty good classifieds or marketplace sections where you can find nice deals. i would use one with a rating system to minimize chances of incidents that can happen with online shopping although it's become a lot safer over the past couple of years.
