I assumed that they naturally eat fish because it is recommended by authorities on them. While I don't see much about fish and AWD, if you do a search you'll get alot of hits on the CWD. Anyway, I think i am just done even talking about this. My original question has gotten skewed, and I never even got everything answered. Thanks for the suggestions taipan, I'll try to find some of those things. I don't know where I would get them other than wild caught though, and I'm worried about pesticides and parasites. I don't think he would eat minced meat because he wont eat anything that isn't alive. And yeah, I know about the lightning bugs being poisonous. I'm not sure why someone would even think to feed something a lightning bug...

Hey Frogsong. Hope im posting on somthing you truly dont want talked about. I think you are doing well for your CWD. I think a little species confusion (from all angles) got this post headed in the wrong direction. It is real hard to overdose most reptiles on calcium so you should be fine. I would cut down a little on the dusting but not much. I would say the fish could make a good 20% of your diet. Guppys are good particularly for smaller Dragons. When it gets bigger I would suggest raising Rosy Red Minnows. Rosy reds will be a little more nutritious food source and get larger than guppys. Also try butter worms as an occasional snack. Very fatty, high in calcium, but low in other nutrition so not often but I use them as an occasional snack for my herps and they all love them.

I have also read CWD will become more interested in veggies as they mature and are attracted to red and purple coloring like seedless red grapes and red pepper. dont know for sure just what I read.

hope this helped Water dragons are not a very knowledgeable area for me.

Thank you very much Rainfrog, that was much more helpful. I think you are right that the confusion on species is probably what sent this down the wrong road. You answered what I needed to know though.
