I think it is helpful to add the fact about arthropods as many people do own them or do consider them that own herps as well. I liked the tidbit of information even though I don't own them, :-)

The only problem I have ever had keeping worms going is when I accidentally fed them onion peels, but that was in the worm keeper, not in the vives. I don't think that it is a vivarium legend that the crickets will nibble on your herps, it is simply that people don't provide anything for the crickets to eat, so they eat the plants and the herps. I have a covered dish of cricket feed in my vive, that way the feed doesn't get wet when misting, and the crickets will seek it out because it is the darkest place in the vive, and they will stay as nutritious as possible because they are constantly gutloaded. I don't do arthropods, but I totally understand that it would be different for them and not worth the risk.
