I've always liked the day geckos too but they're more maintainence than I want to deal with.
TikiChick, you seem to have an "island" obscession there. LOL
Your iggies look pretty mature.... how's they're attitude? (I've often heard that especially with males, adults can get very aggressive)
Maui is a cutie.
Lol, yes I do. Oddly, Kauai was already named that when I adopted him. He's my first grown male (not positive on Speedy's or Marley's gender yet) and was originally the only ig in his first owner's house. I wasn't sure how he'd do with the others, but they get along very well - just the usual head bobbing. During mating season, he should be more aggressive towards the girls, Gravy and Jake, so I plan on moving him to another room during that time. He is like a big hairless cat! He loves to sit in my lap and be petted. All I have to do is walk in the room and say his name and he relaxes and lets me hug him, pet him, pick him up, etc. He'll stretch and lean into the pets, totally blissed out and will fall over from leaning into my hand unless I prop him up, lol.
The key with iguanas of any age seems to be patience, consistent handling, and slow movements. I think of it as "lizard time". A fast approach to touch them will result in defensive posture and they're more apt to bite. Moving slowly and deliberately lets them stay calm and not feel threatened. I used Melissa Kaplan's methods and it's worked to tame each of mine (except Gravy who was already tame and a sweetheart when I adopted her). Iguana Care, Feeding & Socialization (ICFS)
Thanks, Maui's a sweetiepie

Do not bother lizards or you'll fall off a cliff.
I have...
Two Bearded Dragons: 8 month old Miracle and 11 month old Axel
Seven Alligator Lizards: Hosanna, Mist, Cracker, Aqua, Twitch, Geronimo, Cliff Hanger.
Leopard Gecko: 4 year old Montana
And in addition...3 salamanders and a tortoise!
Well, this seems to be the place to post pictures of critters, so here's a couple of my little crested geck, Squishy. Once I get his new home all set up (it;s getting there slowly but surely) I'll be sure to post pictures of that!
Also, everyone has beautiful animals! And I have to say tikichick, your iguanas, especially jake with that blue are absolutely gorgeous! And ChromeLibrarian, the Chomper is beautiful! What species is it?
Well i just realized i only have 1 not so great picture of him on the computer and i dont have the camera with the rest on me, so for now here is the 1 and I'll post more later.
Is he a bitter? I have heard repeatedly from keepers that Crested Geckos Are nippers no matter how often they are handled. Do you have "The exception to the rule"?

@rainfrog - That's so strange because i've never heard of cresties being biters as a rule. From what i know they are one of the easiest geckos to handle and aren't generally biters. But no, he doesn't bite. Thus far he's bitten me only once when he got mad that i was trying to pull some extra shed off his foot, but it didnt hurt at all, in fact, i probably wouldn't have even noticed if i hadn't been looking at him Otherwise he's an angel, he'll very gently lick food right off my fingers, i think a lot of people will hand feed their cresties too. So, i don't think he's the exception...?
