Default can somebody id this lizard?

got a few of these guys from a local petshop a few weeks ago.
they were selling them as 'rainbow lacerts' but, looking online, theres no such lizard.

so, does anybody else know what it really is?

they eats crickets and enjoy borrowing in the dirt. does some mild climbing but most of the time i actually see them, they are on the ground. this guy came out of his hole after i misted the tank.

we have those at the petshop I work at.. I think ours are labeled as pink belly swifts... it might not be that variety but it looks like a swift to me nevertheless...

Default Probable ID

Everybody chill!

We cool?

That is either a Cnemidophorus species or Ameiva species. Definitely a Teidae (the new world counterpart of the lacertas). For a definite ID, I would need:

1) a side view including a clear shot of the head, and;

2) some idea of the mature size.

I can tell you this, though--it does not belong in a rainforest terrarium! It is too humid, and it will dig up the plants.

Peace,

G

Default No, it is not

Sorry Mike, that is not a Gerrhosaurus sp, or any other cordylid. it is defintely a teid. As I said, it is either a Whiptail (Cnemidophorus sp.) or a small Ameiva.

Peace,

G

Long tailed grass lizard, or in some pet stores its called a long tailed skink. Google both and compare to yours. I agree though it should have a dryer set up.

Hey dude, I live in Barstow, Cailifornia(middle if the Mojave Desert). I'm pretty sure that lizard there is a type of whiptail. We call them Pin Heads here for short. The ones here have the same body shape, but the color is different. I would take him out of that tropical setting and put him in a desert one. They're really jumpy in the wild, but I don't know how they act in captivity because I'ver never kept one.
