Default New Green Anole naturalistic viv - Pics!

I've finished the vivarium that will house a pair of Green Anoles.
It's an Exo-Terra glass 18x18x24" terrarium.

More pics - (click to enlarge)

An overhead view of the viv.

Another overhead view.

This broken oriental vase, sold as a fishtank ornament, serves as a "cool hide" and a centerpiece.

I'm pretty much done with it, though I might go grab some more vines for extra arboreal space.

The anoles will be coming sometime after the 4th of July, when my family and I get back from a trip to Chicago.

Thumbs up

Looks good so far.

I guess I can not really say for sure but I would assume that anoles utilize UVb so you may need to add on lighting for that.

I always like to mix and match with store bought vines and real branches. If you do go out and get real branches make sure you wash with soap & water of course. It would probably be better if you baked the at lower temperatures for awhile just to make sure the eggs of any critters do not transfer in your cage.

I like the vase to that is a nice touch.

WOW THAT LOOKS GREAT! all my frogs are very FAT and i cant even think about using nice plants like that. the only plant that can support my whites tree frogs is a birds nest fern. Any ways is looks awsome, Really good. i have 4 of those tanks at home housing 3 whites in one, 2 golden gliding tree frogs in the other, 2 red eyes in the third and a spring peeper in the last one. But are u only putting 2 anoles in, more anoles can fit in a cage like that, mabey 2 more. Nice cage.

That looks great. Anoles do utilize UVB. But it is not a must as long as you supplement well with calcium powder on every feeding and maby once every week or 2 with like herpavite, not to often though most lizards can od on multi vitamins realy easy. Just keep the calcium flowing.

I'm only putting two anoles in because there isn't enough room for more to fit comfortably. Any more and they would become stressed by fighting over food, basking spots, etc.

I'm aware of this. The bulb in there is actually a UVB bulb. I plan to get a flourescent strip to cover the back to add to it.

Thanks for all your comments!

Post some more pictures when you get them in. I am sure they will be satisfied with their set-up.

I never had actually seen anoles in person until today. They where pretty cool looking. They where in the same type of enclosure as yours. There was a green one and two brown looking ones. I have heard these guys can some what change colors. Is that true? Is it as good as a chameleon's?

They can change colors quite rapidly, but only from green to brown and vice versa. They used to be incorrectly called "American Chameleons" in pet stores because of this. Really, though, they aren't any more related to a Chameleon than say, a Beardie or an Iguana is. They're all lizards but not closely related.
