Default I'm trying to make the perfect vivarium for my Fire Belly Newts

Hey people...I hope you can help me to my BASIC vivarium into one that will make the three of my Fire Belly newts happy. It has a bunch of rocks piles up on one side, and the top most one has a couple of clumps of lichen?moss that I got from a river near my house. I also put some medium sized rocks on the bottom of my vivarium with a small, live plant in the middle. In the rocks, there are some plastic plants wedged into some crevices.

So, Is your vivarium half water half land?

I can't really tell from what you've told us...

here's my set-up i have 3 chinese fire belly newts in there

for the land portion i use a turtle dock as it maximizes water volume while also giving a nice large "basking area" some people use a glass, plexi or plastic shelf siliconed into place, or use a method like yours where they pile up stones or have some decoration that breaks the surface of the water. this is more naturalistic but gives less water volume. which method you use is personal choice although most people dont use the "glass divider" method as fire belly newts only need a small area out of the water rather than something like a 50-50 tank

to be honest your set-up as it is sounds good although i would give the advice of (if you already havent) getting some aquarium grade silicone and fixing the rocks into position to avoid accidents.

also i dont keep the light on as i found out that it gets too hot and raises the tempreatures too much
