Default Look What the cat dragged in!

Got home from work tonight, and left my front door open so I could carry groceries in. On my second trip, spotted the neighbor's cat coming out of my bedroom! I chased it out the door, then went to check on my bedroom. Look what the cat left on my bed!

It's a twelve inch-long Ground Snake (Sonora semiannulata). It has a few tooth punctures from the cat, but seems to be ok. Who knows, though. We'll see if it's still alive tomorrow.

If I can catch the cat, I'll ship it to you. Most of the time it's a major pain in the rear! Right now the snake is hiding under a pile of shredded newspaper in one of my spare tanks.

Not likely, since they are, I believe, illegal in AZ.

I have a patron at the library who is a vet tech. She just picked up the snake. She's going to take it to work and have it checked out. Then she'll turn it loose.

Wow, that's a beautiful snake!

I had a very similar thing happen just this past month when one of my cats brought this to me while I was working at my desk (handy little dears, aren't they? lol). It's a Texas Patchnose snake.

Fortunately, it wasn't injured and went back outside after I took a few pics
